More Ads in CD 18 from Patrick Murphy and Carl Domino

September 29, 2014 - 6:00pm
With five weeks to go until the general election, U.S. Rep. Patrick Murphy, D-Fla., and his Republican challenger former state Rep. Carl Domino continue to try to win over Treasure Coast voters with their latest rounds of television ads.

At the end of last week, Murphy released his latest TV ad, his eighth of the general election. The new ad plays up Murphys work in the district including opposing All Aboard Floridas efforts to build high-speed rail in the area.

What makes our part of Florida special is the unique character of our communities, Murphy says in the new ad. Thats why Im fighting to protect our waterways, fund beach renourishment, and oppose high-speed rail through our downtowns. Its all about working hard here to preserve our distinct way of life. We should put our community first. Im Patrick Murphy and I approve this message because Ill never stop working to make sure this remains a special place to call home.

The Murphy camp insisted their candidate was able to balance national and local concerns during his first term in Congress.

While he remains focused on changing the tone in Washington and working in a bipartisan manner to get our nations fiscal house in order, since day one Patrick has prioritized local issues important to his constituents, said Anthony Kusich, Murphys campaign manager. The strength of his re-election campaign is a testament to his hard work building a better and brighter future for the Treasure Coast and Palm Beaches.

Domino released a new TV ad over the past weekend which showcases his service in the Navy and his commitment to securing the border. The new ad looks to link Murphy to Washington liberals such as President Barack Obama and U.S. House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif.

On Monday, Domino looked to continue that line of attack in a message to supporters, stating that Pelosi was watching this race closely. Domino insisted Murphy was relying on Pelosi's special interest money to take me out."

Domino claimed his campaign was gaining traction.

Our message of lower taxes, personal responsibility, and returning adult supervision to Washington is resonating, Domino insisted, praising his hard-hitting ads that criticize Obama, Pelosi, Reid, and all that's wrong with Patrick Murphy's broken Washington and bashing Murphy's awful pro-Pelosi record in Washington.
