What did you want to be when you were growing up?

I wanted to be involved in public service and eventually become the attorney general of Florida.

What do you consider to be your biggest political achievement?

Being elected in a district that was only 38 percent Democrat, and once I got elected, passing legislation to prevent identity theft.

What do you consider to be your biggest political faux pas?

My first year I voted no on a bill in order to haze the sponsor, but it turned out I was the only one who voted no and I was the one being hazed.

Who in state government do you most admire?

Former Attorney General Bob Butterworth because he had a good grasp of public policy.

Who in all the world do you most admire?

President Barack Obama and Raoul Wallenberg, a Swedish humanitarian who worked in Budapest, Hungary during World War II to rescue Jews from the Holocaust.

Who is your favorite lawmaker of the opposite party and why?

Former Treasury Secretary Paul O'Neill because he was a straight shooter and wasn't afraid to speak his mind.

What do you remember as being your wackiest constituent request?

A number of people call the office with concerns about federal issues, but they aren't really wacky.

What is your favorite place in the world?

I'm really quite happy in most settings.

What is your least favorite household chore?

Opening the garage door because it's so cumbersome.
