The Tea Party Express released a book on Wednesday to promote conservative solutions for Americas fiscal problems, featuring essays from a U.S. senator from Florida and two congressmen from the Sunshine State.
Tea Party Solutions for America: Congressional Plans for Fiscal Responsibility and Economic Growth consists of more than 30 articles from members of Congress including Republican presidential candidates U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., and U.S. Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky. Sal Russo and Taylor Budowich, both of whom are affiliated with the Tea Party Express, edited the book which has an introduction from former presidential candidate Steve Forbes.
Our goal is not just to elect people to office, but to change the policies in Washington, insisted Budowich on Wednesday. The call from the tea party movement has been to reduce the size, cost and intrusiveness of the federal government, rein in the national debt, and end anti-growth tax and regulatory policies that are denying too many people their share of the American dream.
This book unveils the fresh, conservative, idea-based face of the new GOP, Budowich added. While some have tried to define the tea party with labels, the truth is that its a movement driven by ideas. Thats why some in the media may be surprised at the broad range of contributors weve included in this book. Republicans from every corner of the nation, with different backgrounds and constituencies, are all championing tea party ideas.
This book does not include every idea out there, nor does it try to suggest that there is only one viable solution to a problem, Budowich concluded. However, with so many in the media falsely characterizing the tea party by claiming that the movement should be defined by our opposition to a reckless growth of government, this book presents many thoughtful, tea party solutions to problems that face America.
In his essay, Rubio mirrors the main points of his presidential campaign by calling for more economic independence, reforming education to ensure young Americans are ready for the changing job market and supporting a strong foreign policy.
Two congressmen from Florida also penned essays included in the book. U.S. Rep. Ted Yoho, R-Fla., calls for less federal intervention in education, taking aim at No Child Left Behind and Common Core. U.S. Rep. Curt Clawson, R-Fla., looks at the economy and calls for less federal spending, promoting the Penny Plan that he, Paul and former U.S. Rep. Connie Mack, R-Fla., support which reduces the size and cost of the federal government by 1 percent each year until there is a balanced budget.
