GOP Guest Pass: Hottest Ticket in Town

August 28, 2012 - 6:00pm

Looking to get into the Republican National Convention in Tampa?

If you havent already been approved, or dont have an in with a GOP party official, expect to pay.

As in "through the nose."

Some guest passes, which were initially sold to delegates for $300 each and others for $400 a pop, were being shopped around for up to $1,000.

At least that was the going rate for some around Tampa on Wednesday, on a night highlighted by vice presidential nominee Rep. Paul Ryan, R-Wisc.

Other speakers on the dais included; Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi, former Arkansas Gov. and current Florida resident Mike Huckabee, former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, and N.M. Gov. Susana Martinez.

Expect the costs to rise Thursday for the celebration that will be kicked off when formerMassachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney formally accepts the party nomination to be the president nominee.

Representatives of the Republican National Committee were not immediately available for comment Wednesday night.
