Gov. Rick Scott told mayors and community business leaders Thursday that the perception of Florida as being pro-business has improved "dramatically" in the past 12 months.
We have a lot of things going, Enterprise Florida is swamped right now. I know it isnt happening fast enough, Scott said during a luncheon at the Governors Club in Tallahassee.
Scott focused on his pro-jobs, reduced-regulations agenda as he headlined the "Mayors Mean Business" initiative sponsored by the Florida League of Mayors.
"I think we're changing; there are still issues with the national economy, as we all know, but this state is heading in the right direction," Scott said.
Also speaking before the group, Sean Snaith, director of economic competitiveness at the University of Central Florida, told the mayors that Florida is starting to rebuild. He advised the mayors to be patient, but also to grease the skids by reducing the red tape to make it easier for growth to happen.
Weve been in a deep hole from a long recession and it will take a long time to get out of that, Snaith said.
