Let's face it, Debbie Wasserman Schultz has a history of interfering in party politics. She put her thumb on the scale in two races that we know of.
Mrs. Buttinsky Wasserman Schultz tipped the scales in favor of Allison Tant in 2013, sending the Florida Democratic Party to wander the desert since. The party has been beaten like it stole something in every race that mattered. It is totally irrelevant at this point.
It has no lunch money for even the RPOF to take!
I'm sure you guys remember the race between Tant and Clendenin.
To this day, those who KNOW, know that Alan Clendenin actually won that race.
Perhaps if Wasserman Schultz hadn't stuck her nose in it, Florida Democrats wouldn't be scraping the bottom of the barrel now, because everything has been downhill since Allison Tant took office.
The whole world is witness to Wasserman Schultz's meddling in the presidential primary between Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton.
Perhaps if she hadn't done that, we wouldn't be staring at President Donald Trump.
Now that Allison Tant has done all the damage she can possibly do and is scurrying away with her tail between her legs, the FDP is in search of a new party chair.
One would think it would be crystal clear that the party needs new direction, right?
One would think it would be crystal clear establishment politics is not what's needed right now, right?
One. Would. Think.
I've been reading that Dan Gelber has decided he is going to ride in and save us, y'all! The white knight has arrived! Oh, wait, Susanna Randolph is coming too!
They's gon' save us peoples of color, y'all. Chile' bye!
First, why don't they try reading the party rules?
The 2016 Florida Statutes
Title IX
ELECTORS AND ELECTIONS
Chapter 103
PRESIDENTIAL ELECTORS; POLITICAL PARTIES; EXECUTIVE COMMITTEES AND MEMBERS
That section says:
"In such event, electors seeking to qualify for such office shall do so with the Department of State or supervisor of elections not earlier than noon of the 71st day, or later than noon of the 67th day, preceding the primary election."
A party insider, on the condition of anonymity, said "Florida Statute and Party Bylaws outline how party leadership is selected. Democratic process is based on everyone playing by the rules. At this point Dan Gelber and Susanna Randolph, if allowed to run, would not be playing by the rules."
My question for Gelber and Randolph is this: Have you or have you not, met the qualifications to actually run for FDP chair in the time period allotted?
Now, I actually know the answer, and to be on the safe side, I had a few other people check as well, 'cause I know the previous chicanery of one Debbie Wasserman Schultz.
The ONLY way that these two people can magically qualify to run, is if a fast one is pulled, once again, on the people of Florida.
We see what these fast ones that are pulled can get us: Allison Tant, Hillary Clinton, etc.
The FDP has been full of so-called leaders who only cared about funneling money to certain consultants and maintaining their status quo. They didn't truly care about the Democratic platform, the Democratic base, or actually winning races.
Trust and believe, these people don't want to see change. If they truly wanted change, no one would be considering Annette Taddeo, a four-time loser who was the running mate of Charlie Crist.
We wouldn't be excited about a Dan Gelber, who also was leading the charge for Charlie Crist in 2014. That isn't moving the party in a new direction. That's taking us back. He won't give us anything except more of the same. Nothing new, no excitement. Vanilla.
Does anyone think these people would send Scott Arceneaux packing? He needs to go right along with Tant. He clearly doesn't have the decency to step down on his own.
What's the point of getting rid of cancer of the breast, when prostate cancer is still in there growing?
If Florida Democrats ever want to recover, a complete overhaul has to occur. Everybody has to go, to include the person who cleans the damn building at night!
This last election made one thing pretty clear here in Florida: The black vote is a pretty powerful thing, and if you continue to take it for granted, Democrats, you WILL continue to lose.
Like the old Verizon commercial said: Can you hear me now?
