Totals for second quarter fundraising for congressional campaigns have been trickling in this week ahead of the Friday deadline for reporting all contributions and spending in the second three months of the year. Most of the candidates havent filed their report with the Federal Election Commission, but a few have. A few others have said publicly what they plan to report.
The quarter covered the three months that ended June 30. One thing to keep in mind while candidates are filing to run in particular districts, none really know exactly what district theyre running in because of the redistricting process that will take place between now and the qualifying deadline. One candidate Karen Diebel has actually filed a campaign report saying she is running for a phantom District 26, which doesnt really exist yet. Florida will get two new districts because of population growth, though its not certain where those districts will be.
Here are some numbers for candidates for the U.S. House who have made their 2Q haul known:
District 4 incumbent U.S. Rep. Ander Crenshaw (R)
Crenshaw, who is on the Appropriations Committee, had one of his best fundraising quarters in years, bringing in $152,750 for the period that ended June 30, according to the Florida Times-Union. Crenshaw has $585,594 in the bank.
District 6 incumbent U.S. Rep. Cliff Stearns (R)
Republican challenger Theodore Yoho has already turned in his 2Q report, and hes raised about $7,000 and loaned himself another $5,000.
District 8 incumbent U.S. Rep. Dan Webster (R)
Republican Armando Gutierez Jr. has already filed his 2Q report, showing no contributions during the period only expenditures. He has about $48,000 on hand.
District 16 incumbent U.S. Rep. Tom Rooney (R)
Term-limited Republican state Rep. Paige Kreegel, R-Punta Gorda, has filed to run for Congress and reported raising $64,250 in the quarter, which is his total for the cycle. He hasnt spent much of it and has by far the bulk of that, $61,930, in the bank.
Rooney hasnt filed yet.
District 22 incumbent U.S. Rep. Allen West (R)
West, a huge target for Democrats, but a national tea party favorite, raised more than $1.5 million, which is likely to make him among the leaders in congressional fundraising when all reports are in. That will make it an uphill climb for the two Democrats, former West Palm Beach Mayor Lois Frankel, who said Wednesday shes raised $440,000, and Patrick Murphy who has raised $450,000.
District 23 incumbent U.S. Rep. Alcee Hastings (D)
Hastings has already turned in his June 30 quarterly, reporting having raised $132,572 in the quarter, giving him $219,397 for the cycle to date. Hastings has $263,923 on hand.
(District 26) new district
Former Winter Park Commissioner Karen Diebel has filed to run in the yet-to-be-created new Central Florida district that its expected lawmakers will create and has already filed her June 30 report. Diebel, who lost to Sandy Adams in the Republican primary in a bid for House District 24 in 2010, has gotten $4,500 so far.
