Annette Taddeo Showcases Charlie Crist Support as NRCC Turns Up the Heat

April 8, 2015 - 6:00pm

Former Miami-Dade Democratic Chairwoman Annette Taddeo tried to overcome the flawed start of her challenge to U.S. Rep. Carlos Curbelo, R-Fla., by showcasing the support of former Gov. Charlie Crist on Thursday even as Republicans continue to pummel her.

Taddeo teamed up with Crist at a fundraising event on Thursday and talked to the media. Last year, Taddeo was Crists running mate on the Democratic ticket that lost to Gov. Rick Scott.

Crist had already announced his support of Taddeo earlier in the week, highlighting his support for her on Wednesday.

I am so proud to support my friend Annette Taddeo. She's a small-business owner and true American success story," Crist posted on Facebook on Wednesday. We all know her heart. She was a great running mate. And now we need her working for Florida in Congress.

Taddeo has also sent out emails through Crists old campaign even though it was for state office and she is now running for federal office.

The National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) continued to go after Taddeo on Thursday, labeling her a perennial losing candidate" due to her failed lieutenant governor bid and equally unsuccessful bids for Congress and the Miami-Dade Commission. The NRCC also continued to make political hay out of Taddeos appearance on MSNBC earlier this week in which she claimed to be middle class despite having a $1.25 million home and being worth $5.7 million. The NRCC also launched a website full of GIFs, highlighting Taddeo's past electoral defeats, living outside the district and canceling a radio appearance due to being tired.

We congratulate perennial losing candidate and millionaire Annette Taddeo on receiving the endorsement of perennial losing candidate and millionaire Charlie Crist, Chris Pack, a spokesman for the NRCC, told Sunshine State News on Thursday.

Someone needs to sit down with Annette and tell her this whole running for office thing just isnt for her, the NRCC insisted. But in the meantime, well be watching.
