Another Obamacare Challenge to be Heard in Federal Court Sept. 23

Florida, already leading a 26-state legal challenge to Obamacare, is in the midst of another multistate fight to derail the law.

Seven-Sky v. Holder is scheduled for oral arguments on Sept. 23. The case will be heard by a three-member panel of the D.C. circuit.

Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi joined 13 other states in the Seven-Sky case: Alabama, Indiana, Kansas, Maine, Michigan, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Texas, Washington and Wisconsin.

Is There a Sound if No One Shows Up to Watch Shredding of Quran?

South Florida resident Mark Dixon Rowley proceeded with his planned shredding of the Quran on Monday, methodically feeding page after page into an electric shredder at a Boca Raton park.

Surrounded by at least six city police officers and a bomb-sniffing police dog, Rowley began shredding a copy of the Islamic holy book at noon at Sanborn Square. No protesters had appeared.

Florida Won't Get $35.7 Million Federal Health Grant

In March, Gov. Rick Scotts staff said he would accept a $35.7 million Money Follows the Person federal health grant.

But the Legislature appears to have decided otherwise. In the 2011-12 budget Scott just signed, lawmakers failed to give the Agency for Health Care Administration budget authority to draw down and spend the money.

Patient advocates were dismayed at the omission, because the money was to have been spent on home- and community-care programs that let disabled and elderly people move out of nursing homes or avoid them in the first place.
