Republican Senate hopeful U.S. Rep. Connie Mack took aim at Democrat U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson for voting against the Blunt amendment that would have permitted employers to refuse to cover health-care costs contrary to their religious beliefs -- mainly birth-control and abortion-inducing drugs. The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee jumped on Rep. Allen West for not supporting a year-old gasoline "price-gouging" bill. Energy Secretary Steven Chu apparently doesn't care.
"In the face of rising gas prices, Representative Allen West and his Grand Oil Party just voted against considering the Federal Price Gouging Prevention Act, which would empower the Federal Trade Commission and state attorneys general to penalize fuel price gouging," a snarky DCCC press release stated..
The Council on American-Islamic Relations released a "community tool kit" designed to counter "anti-Sharia" bills introduced in more than 20 states.
CAIR said its "Securing Religious Liberty" tool kit includes "lessons learned from opposing anti-Muslim legislative efforts in Oklahoma, Tennessee and Michigan, an explanation of the legal impact of the discriminatory bills and a discussion of what Sharia is and what it is not."
