New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, fresh off his CPAC snub, is rumored to announce Tuesday afternoon that he is going to accept the Medicaid expansion under Obamacare, less than one week after Florida Gov. Rick Scott made the same move.

Tom Rooney Files Bill to Quicken Short Sales, Help Florida's Housing Market

U.S. Rep. Tom Rooney introduced a bill Tuesday he hopes will speed up short sales and help Floridas housing market, which is showing strong signs of a comeback.
Short sales come with a notoriously slow-moving process in Florida. The impact of the legislation would be to shorten the approval time, requiring lenders to make a decision within 30 days.

Home Prices Nationwide Surge to Best Annual Gain Since Housing Market Crash, Aided by 2 Fla. Cities

Home prices across the U.S., aided by two Florida metropolitan areas,ended 2012 with the largest gain since the housing market began to crash, according to figures released Tuesday by S&P Dow Jones.
The S&P/Case-Shiller Home Price Indices, a leading barometer of U.S. home prices, revealed the best year-over-year gain, through December, in home prices since July 2006. Its 10-city index showed prices up 5.9 percent, while the 20-city composite showed annual returns of 6.8 percent.

Americas debt crisis should be reduced by incorporating spending cuts alone, according to 45 percent of voters in a new survey Tuesday.
The Rasmussen Reports' poll shows a plurality of voters wants spending cuts alone as a method to reduce the federal deficit.

One of the surprises-to-many of the opening Florida Gaming Congress session -- called "Destination Florida?" -- was Michael Yormark's strong endorsement of at least one destination casino in South Florida. Yormark is president of Sunrise Sports & Entertainment, better known as the National Hockey League's Florida Panthers.

Miami's Univision Taps into Hispanic Growth Nationwide

Miami's Spanish-language Univision TV network has leapfrogged powerhouse NBC during the most important month for television ratings, a telling sign of the Hispanic audience's expansion nationwide.
In the latest numbers from the February sweeps, Univision finished in fourth place, behind CBS, Fox and ABC. NBC rounded out the top five for the first time in history. Univision had never beaten NBC in the ratings race.

A February Hat Trick for Orlando's New Soccer Stadium?

The Orlando City Council has moved to buy land spanning two blocks in the citys downtown, which could be the future site of a soccer stadium for the Orlando City Lions.
The council took action Monday, accepting a deal to purchase four parcels of land one block from the Orlando Magics home court, the Amway Center, for $4 million, according to the Orlando Sentinel.
