I'm Not Dead Yet!

February 4, 2019 - 1:15pm

I know some of you thought I was dead, or at least hoped I was dead. Sorry to burst your bubble.

I’m back.

Even heart disease couldn’t keep me down. It surprised the hell out of me, though.

You see, I have never had any indication that I suffered from heart disease. I have never been a smoker.

I don’t have hypertension. I don’t have diabetes. I don’t have any co-morbidities that would scream heart disease.

And yet, on Nov. 21, 2018, I had a double bypass.

The release of the governor’s budget proposal is a closely watched event each year in the Capitol.

Big numbers get tossed around. Reporters scramble to figure out what the governor wants. Industry groups look at how they fared.

But the truth is, the release of the governor’s budget is only a prelude to the real action. Sometime in April, that will play out as legislative leaders and staff members work behind the scenes to cut deals that will result in a new budget.

Expect an Early Spring

Just before 7:30 a.m. Saturday, Punxsutawney (puhnk-suh-TAW'-nee) Phil emerged from his burrow in Pennsylvania at sunrise and didn't see his shadow. Nearly the same series of events unfolded about 300 miles (483 kilometers) to the east, where Staten Island Chuck's handlers also revealed the same prediction.

Seismic surveys are used for a number of reasons, including to help identify potential energy resources in the ocean, and the process is fairly simple and safe – contrary to what you may read in the media.
