Amendment 2: Medical Marijuana Back on Florida Ballot

On top of selecting a new president, voting on a new U.S. Senator and choosing Florida lawmakers, Floridians will vote on five constitutional amendments later this year. Getting a constitutional amendment to pass isn’t a walk in the park. Each amendment needs 60 percent of the vote in order to pass, and groups in favor of and against each amendment typically tend to spend millions of dollars in campaigns to push their message.

Florida Senate War Chests: South Florida Races Bring In the Bucks

The race to make it to the Florida Capitol is heating up, and politicians are stockpiling loads of cash to help them secure a win in November to send them to Tallahassee next year.

Unlike the top war chests in the race for Florida House seats, the top Senate war chests are a mixed bag, with a slightly higher number of Democrats snagging a spot in the top 10. Republicans have six out of the top 10 seats, with four Democrats rounding out the group. 

Newly redrawn district lines have created the perfect storm for competitive and expensive campaigns in 2016.

The Republican Party of Florida has rounded out its final list of delegates it will send to Cleveland for the Republican National Convention in July.

Over 600 people applied to be at-large delegates for the party. On Saturday, RPOF Chair Blaise Ingoglia recommended 15 candidates to be the party’s at large delegates at the party’s spring quarterly meeting in Tampa.

Feds Bust $13 Million Food Stamp Scam in South Florida

Florida is at the center of a massive food stamp fraud bust with 22 people charged from allegedly collecting over $13 million from the United States Department of Agriculture by fraudulently trading food stamps for cash.

U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Florida Wifredo Ferrer, joined by Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi and Chief Financial Officer Jeff Atwater, among others, announced the charges Wednesday.
