After 10 Glorious Years, Sunshine State News and I Are Passing the Baton

You probably can't imagine how much fun I've had at Sunshine State News over the last 10 years. I don't think anybody could.

With new leadership in the House of Representatives and an important return to regular order and a more inclusive process, the first Republican-controlled Congress in nine years ended 2015 by passing a number of substantial legislative achievements and conservative reforms that will benefit the American economy and the American people. More importantly, these legislative achievements were signed into law by a President who threatened to block much of this important progress.

There were few winners and too many losers in Florida politics over the past year as legislative dysfunction took over in Tallahassee and the state Supreme Court stepped in on redistricting.
WASHINGTON -- If you look beyond Donald Trump's comprehensive unpleasantness -- is there a disagreeable human trait he does not have? -- you might see this: He is a fundamentally sad figure.
"I worry greatly that the rhetoric coming from the Republicans, particularly Donald Trump, is sending a message to Muslims here ... and ... around the world, that there is a 'clash of civilizations.'"
Some observations on the 2016 presidential race as we head into the dark period, i.e., the two weeks of Christmas and New Year's holidays in which no one has ever dared, at least in the past, to conduct any polls. It was an off-election year, one you might have thought would be a sleeper for the political class in Florida. But 2015 turned out to be a noisy family food fight from beginning nearly to end, a year dominated by the courts and leaving a shortage of happy people in and around the Capitol. Here is our list of stories that topped the news in the Sunshine State this year.
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- Although he is just 22, Andrew Zeller is a fourth-year Ph.D. candidate in mathematics at Purdue University. He is one reason the school is a rare exception to the rule of unreason on American campuses, where freedom of speech is under siege.
The three Democrats running for the presidency clashed in a debate Saturday night in New Hampshire, home of the first primary. While the fight for the Republican nomination has been receiving the most attention, in recent days the Democratic contest has been front and center after news broke that Bernie Sanders’ campaign tapped into unauthorized voter files housed by the DNC. That was expected to be a major bone of contention but the issue fizzled after the first minutes.
