After 10 Glorious Years, Sunshine State News and I Are Passing the Baton

More congressional Republican incumbents cruising to victory in Florida. With almost 50,000 votes counted, U.S. Rep. Jeff Miller won 80 percent of the vote in his district in the Panhandle -- defeating two candidates running with no party affiliation. Joe Cantrell took 11 percent while John Krause took 9 percent. With more than 170,000 votes counted, U.S. Rep. John Mica held off a spirited challenge from Democratic challenger Navy vet Heather Beaven. Mica took 68 percent compared to Beavens 32 percent.

Big win for U.S. Rep. Bill Young, the dean of congressional Republicans. Democrats thought they had a chance of knocking him off with a strong candidate in Sen. Charlie Justice of St. Petersburg. Guess again. With 84 percent of the vote in, Young, who has been in Congress since the presidency of Richard Nixon, had 66 percent with Justice taking 34 percent.

Official or not, Fox News pundit Bill O'Reilly predicts that U.S. Rep. Alan Grayson will lose tonight. "This guy is a bad, bad guy," O'Reilly said. "Maybe he'll get a job with Arianna Huffington." Former state Sen. Daniel Webster was leading the first-term congressman by 20 percentage points with 30 percent of the vote counted.

Republican U.S. Rep. Ander Crenshaw is headed back to Washington. While the veteran legislator did not face a Democratic opponent, he did face a spirited challenge from conservative businessman and Navy vet Troy Stanley, a tea party favorite, who ran with no party affiliation. With more than 116,000 votes counted, Crenshaw had more than 78 percent while Stanley took more than 21.5 percent.
