With a constitutional amendment that would legalize medical marijuana looming for next year's ballot, some Florida legislators are floating proposals that would expand on a limited pot law that's almost a year behind schedule.

One measure --- backed by sponsors of the 2014 law that authorized non-euphoric marijuana, commonly known as "Charlotte's Web" --- would allow terminally ill patients to use full-strength medical marijuana. House and Senate committees are slated to give the proposal a first vetting Tuesday.

In the aftermath of the Islamist terrorist attacks in Paris on Friday, Republicans in the Sunshine State are pushing back against President Barack Obama agreeing to have 10,000 Syrian refugees relocate to the Sunshine State. 

Sen. Jeff Brandes, R-St. Petersburg, filed a bill Monday he calls "a robust and free-market regulatory approach to the governance of cultivation, processing, and retail sale of medical marijuana in Florida."

U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz, R-TX, officially committed to end the controversial Common Core State Standards if elected president, signing a pledge with Florida Parents Against Common Core on Friday. The pledge says he will oppose any federal efforts to mandate, impose or influence standards, assessments or curriculum across the country.

A “heartsick" and “angry" Carly Fiorina tore into President Barack Obama and former U.S. Sec. of State Hillary Clinton on international issues on Saturday.

Insisting the “idea of America” was at stake in 2016, Gov. Bobby Jindal, R-La., made his case to Florida Republicans to be the next president of the United States.

Insisting he had “real experience," former Gov. Jim Gilmore, R-Va., took his underdog bid for the GOP presidential nomination to Orlando on Saturday, reminding Florida Republicans that he led the Old Dominion during 9/11.
