But it could be more than that, according to a family friend: Her absence could indirectly affect new President Donald Trump's governance. At least over the short haul. 

As he was formally nominated Monday by his Republican colleagues to be the next speaker of the Florida House, Rep. Richard Corcoran gave few new indications of where he will take the chamber over the next two years.

Florida created nearly 6,000 jobs for the month of October, but the unemployment rate went up, according to the latest numbers from the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity. 

On Friday, state officials announced the unemployment rate in Florida had increased to 4.8 percent, a slight uptick from September’s unemployment rate of 4.7 percent.
