Let me first always remind readers that polls are a snapshot in time. Two years from now, President Obama could be sitting on top of the world politically. But for now, he has lost all but 38 percent approval from the critical "independent" American voters. They're the ones that gave him the presidency. He appears headstrong in his determination to show the nation what a disastrous presidency looks like.

In Senate District 2 in the Panhandle, two candidates are fighting over which has the endorsement of Medal of Honor winner Col. Bud Day. In January, Rep. Greg Evers, R-Baker, said hed been endorsed by Day, but this week Evers opponent in the GOP primary, Mike Hill, said hed been endorsed by Day.

The federal government is touting progress made on the presidents goal to double national exports in the next five years, and a prominent Florida business advocate says that the state could be following suit if it makes the right choices.

I think its certainly possible, said Barney Bishop, president and CEO of major business advocacy organization Associated Industries of Florida. Whether that can happen is going to depend on the economy of the world and the ability of Florida and the nation in general to remain competitive.
