An election inspection team ordered by Florida Secretary of State Ken Detzner is on the ground in Fort Pierce as the city mayors contest has spawned the second lawsuit that questions the general election results in St. Lucie County.

As Republicans regain their bearings after last week's electoral defeats, and struggle to sell their ideology to a disenfranchised electorate, Florida's junior senator is getting ready to renew an effort that might resonate with the nation's Hispanics: immigration reform.

A group tasked by Gov. Rick Scott with reviewing the state's "Stand Your Ground" self-defense law appears unlikely to recommend any major revamping of the statute, although it will make suggestions for additional study by lawmakers.
