Former U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum, R-Penn., will end his second bid for the Republican presidential nomination after a weak showing in Iowa, a state he carried only four years ago.

The Iowa caucus claimed another Republican presidential hopeful as U.S. Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., bowed out of the race on Wednesday. 

Now running for the Republican nomination in the U.S. Senate race, Lt. Gov. Carlos Lopez-Cantera doubled down on his commitment to serve only two terms on Wednesday regardless if a the Constitution is amended for term limits.  

From his perch as chairman of the Republican Party of Florida (RPOF), state Rep. Blaise Ingoglia, R-Spring Hill, offered his take on the Iowa Democratic caucus on Tuesday. 

After his surprisingly strong third place in showing in Iowa on Monday night, U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., turned his attention to South Carolina on Tuesday, unveiling an ad featuring U.S. Sen. Tim Scott, R-SC, endorsing him. 

Even as Iowa left both former U.S. Sec. of State Hillary Clinton and U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., declaring victory, from her perch as chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee (DNC), U.S. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, D-Fla., insisted it was a good night for her party. 

With the U.S. Department of Justice refusing to name a special counsel to investigate the handling of then U.S. Sec. of State Hillary Clinton using a private server for her official email, U.S. Rep. Ron DeSantis, R-Fla., called for the department to rethink its decision. 

U.S. Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, R-Fla., weighed in on Friday over the Obama administration giving the Havana Club trademark license to Cubaexport, which is tied to the Castro regime, despite the objections of Bacardi, an American company. 

While most of his focus is on the presidential race, U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., turned his attention on Friday to the outbreak of the Zika virus and how President Barack Obama’s administration plans to handle it. 

Conservative leader Gary Bauer announced on Friday he was backing U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, for the Republican presidential nomination.
