Will Weatherford, Don Gaetz Encourage Support for Lenny Curry

The stars of the party continue to line up for Republican Party of Florida Chairman Lenny Curry.

Seeking to retain his post with the state party, House Speaker Will Weatherford, R-Wesley Chapel, and Senate President Don Gaetz, R-Niceville, released a joint endorsement on Tuesday that encouraged their executive committee appointees to climb on the bandwagon.

Over the last 15 months, as chairman, Lenny has proven that he is a true conservative leader with a level head and a strong heart. He has united our party through common sense and openness, Gaetz stated in a released. With Lenny at the helm of our party, RPOF will be on the right path for success.

Looking forward, I cannot imagine a stronger leader for our party than Lenny Curry, Weatherford added in the release. He is a young, energetic conservative who truly believes in the Republican message and has devoted full-time to advocate for our cause and our candidates all across the state.

Gov. Rick Scott and the members of the Florida Cabinet -- Attorney General Pam Bondi, Chief Financial Officer Jeff Atwater, and Agriculture Commissioner Adam Putnam -- have also backed Curry in his bid for another term.

No one else has publicly declared for the post that will be up for a vote of the party's executive committee in January.
