Wife Springs to Webster's Defense in Face of Grayson's 'Taliban Dan' Ad

U.S. Rep. Alan Grayson's jihadi-toned TV ad against Dan Webster -- using a Webster voice-over that repeats "Submit to me" to cast aspersions on the former GOP state senator's conservative social views -- drew rebukes today.

"Alan Grayson's latest attack on my husband is shameful," said Sandy Webster, Webster's wife of 38 years."Dan has been an amazing husband and father, and the finest man I have ever known.Mr. Grayson should be ashamed of his nasty smears against my husband."??

Webster campaign spokesman Brian Graham went further.

"Grayson compares Webster to the Taliban, but the odd thing is that Grayson doesn't even support our troops' efforts in the Middle East to combat the Taliban or other Muslim extremist groups.?Mr. Grayson is certainly no champion of respecting women. He even publiclycalled a woman a 'K Street whore.'"

Roundly condemning the "failures and expletives of the past," TEA Party candidate Peg Dunmire said, "The reality is that both candidates have a great deal of explaining to do to the voters of this district. Neither Mr. Webster's archaic view of women nor Mr. Grayson's use of expletives to describe a female opponent are acceptable."

Related footnote: Webster has refused to participate in any debate that includes Dunmire.
