Who's More Catholic than the Bishops? Maybe the White House?
For an interesting take on Obama vs. the Catholic Church in the United States, check out conservative Catholic columnist George Weigel's piece at National Review Online today. He makes a couple of very good points, but the gist of it is, the administration has been determined, since Obama's visit to Notre Dame in 2009 (a move that institution should regret until the Second Coming) to divide Catholics in this country between the "good" -- the ones who support the liberal agenda -- and "fake" ones.
He only glancingly refers to the church's support for the basic principles of Obamacare, though, and the results it -- inevitably, foreseeably, predictably -- has wrought.
George Will pushed it further on ABC's "This Week" on Sunday. If you missed it, catch it here.
In short, if you lay down with dogs, don't be surprised to wake up itching.
