Where Have Charlie Crist's Friends Gone? Union Labels Stick to Dems
The conservative pundits have it right so far. When Gov. Charlie Crist announced he was taking his U.S. Senate campaign independent, analysts said that was the high point of his candidacy.
Indeed, it's been downhill ever since. Crist's poll numbers have slipped steadily, and Sunday's AFL-CIO endorsement of Kendrick Meek -- who's not even hitting 20 percent in the polls -- was a definite downer for the guv.
Even Crist's newfound pals at the Florida Education Association waffled. Nearly a month after lauding the governor's veto of Senate Bill 6, the FEA came down with a dual endorsement of Crist and Meek -- a schizophrenic recommendation that can only help Marco Rubio in a three-way race.
The more for Meek, the worse for Crist.
Make a note: Sen. Bill Nelson said earlier this month that the Senate race would come down to Meek and Crist. More recently, former Gov. Jeb Bush predicted this order of finish: Rubio, Meek, Crist.
