The Wheels on Kendrick Meek's Bus Go Round and Round
Trying to salvage his once-promising candidacy for the U.S. Senate, U.S. Rep. Kendrick Meek, locked in an acrimonious battle for the Democratic nomination with billionaire financier Jeff Greene, kicked off an 11-day bus tour of the state in Orlando on Wednesday.
"I'm excited to get the dust under our wheels and get our campaign out on the road, said Meek. There couldn't be a better place to start our tour. It's in Orlando where I announced our campaign's history-making petition drive and started the yearlong effort to build a top-notch grass-roots campaign.
Meek took a shot at Greene, who ran for Congress as a Republican out in California back in 1982, as well as independent candidate Gov. Charlie Crist who continues to draw heavy support from Democrats.
"The Real Dem Express is sending a clear message -- there is just one Democrat in this race and only one candidate who will fight for middle-class Florida families," insisted Meek.
Meek was joined in Orlando by U.S. Rep. Alan Grayson. They spoke to a crowd of 100 people.
