What? Occupy Wall Street Has a Super-PAC?

What's that you say? The group screaming loudest about putting bloated amounts of money into politics is doing what?

Putting bloated amounts of money into politics, that's what.

According to a story on the AtlanticWire, an Occupy Wall Street organizer in Decatur, Ala., on Thursday filed for a brand new super-PAC: The Occupy Wall Street Political Action Committee. Check out the address he lists on the filing form.

Super-PAC treasurer John Thornton claims he's not fooling around. He's ultra-active in the Decatur Occupy movement, contacting state representatives and city council members, participating in weekly general assembly meetings, and staying active in his local branch's 2,000-member private and public online forums.

Thornton says he wants to raise money for federal candidates pledging to get money out of politics, and he names specifically Massachusetts Senate candidate Elizabeth Warren and Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders. "It's going to be fairly democratic. We'll take opinions on how much need and in what areas."

Doesn't he find it a tad hypocritical -- on the one hand decrying vast amounts of money in a campaign and on the other raking in the cash for his own?

Nah, not really.

"I am out to get the bloated amounts of money out of politics, but to do that, we need to support candidates looking to do that."
