As well as Arizona Law, Connie Mack Opposes DHS Plan to Waive Illegal Immigration Cases
While U.S. Rep. Connie Mack is one of the more prominent Republicans in Florida who opposes the Arizona immigration law, he will not be wining praise from advocates of illegal immigrants any time soon. On Thursday, Mack came out strongly against a proposal from the Department of Homeland Security that will dismiss thousands of illegal immigration cases for aliens who have not committed serious criminal offenses.
The news that the Department of Homeland Security will be dismissing some pending immigration cases is unacceptable, said Mack. This is government inefficiency at its worst, and once again proves that the federal governments approach to addressing the illegal immigration problem has been a colossal failure.
For years, both Republican and Democratic administrations and Congresses have failed to address this growing problem, and now it has overwhelmed the system to the point that the Obama administration is choosing to dismiss some deportation cases rather than enforce the law, said Mack. This administration and the Democratic leadership in Congress need to get serious about securing our border, enforcing federal law, and stepping up employer verification programs. Until they realize this, the illegal immigration problem is only going to get worse by the day.
