Watch Out, Allen West: Here Comes My Liberal Twin, Lois Frankel

Now, don't get your knickers in a twist when I say this, Congressman Allen West, but I really like Lois Frankel.

A lot.

That doesn't mean I'm going to vote for her, sir.

She's the Democrat who just announced she's going after your seat in 2012.

But Lois is a pistol. She's up to your sass. Watch out for her.

I doubt she remembers me all these years later. We knew each other briefly during one of her campaigns late in the last century -- I can't even remember which campaign it was, she's had so many. It was when she came up to Stuart to visit our editorial board. We had lunch together.

"You and I could channel each other," she told me. "You've got a big mouth, I've got a big mouth. Seems to me you don't take crap from anybody and neither do I. Want to join my campaign?"

No, I didn't.

But it was one of those mirror things. I had to like her. If I didn't like her, I didn't like myself.

And you thought Fort Lauderdale businessman Patrick Murphy was the only Democrat you had to worry about. He's a marshmallow. Get ready, Lt. Colonel, you're going back into battle.

Here comes Lois.
