Wall Street Journal: Rick Scott Graded 'A' on Governors List for Fiscal Policy

Florida Gov. Rick Scott has been singled out for commendation and named an "outstanding tax reformer" in Tuesday's Wall Street Journal.

Writing for the Wall Street Journal Tuesday, Chris Edwards bemoans members of Congress for creating an economic mess with "chronic overspending and inability to deliver stable, pro-growth tax policies."

But, says Edwards, around the country are a few guys who who are making real fiscal progress -- and they're all in state capitols. Chief among them: Rick Scott.

The story gives an "A" toScott for ending Florida's corporate income tax for thousands of small businesses and moving ahead with cuts to property taxes on business equipment, a major hindrance to economic growth.

Three other governors were graded "A." Besides Scott, the other overachievers are Sam Brownback of Kansas, Paul LePage of Maine and Tom Corbett of Pennsylvania. Scott and Corbett were called "the most tightfisted on spending."

Edwards, director of tax policy studies at the Cato Institute, just released the fullreport onCato.org.
