Vincent DeGennaro Installed as Florida Medical Association President
Vincent A. DeGennaro, Miami VA Healthcare Systems chief of staff, was installed Saturday as the 136th president of the Florida Medical Association.
DeGennaro received his medical degree from SUNY Downstate College of Medicine, completed his residency in surgery at St. Vincents Hospital and Medical Center of New York, and completed a fellowship in colon and rectal surgery at Lahey Clinic in Boston. He earned a master of science degree in health management from the New York University Graduate School for Public Administration.
When Haiti was hit by a devastating earthquake in 2010, DeGennaro spearheaded the FMA Foundations Help for Haiti initiative to provide medical supplies and relief.
Dr. DeGennaro is an inspiration to our members, and he is committed to the FMAs mission of helping physicians practice medicine, FMA Executive Vice President Timothy J. Stapleton stated in a release. We look forward to his able leadership as we navigate the major challenges that lie ahead for medicine.
Other FMA officers are: Alan Harmon, M.D., president-elect; Ralph Nobo, M.D., vice oresident; Alan Pillersdorf, M.D., secretary; Ron Giffler, M.D., treasurer; David Becker, M.D., speaker; and Corey Howard, M.D., vice speaker.
