Vern Buchanan Applauds Higher Medicare Advantage Reimbursement Rate

From his perch on the U.S. House Ways and Means Committee, U.S. Rep. Vern Buchanan, R-Fla., applauded the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) for raising the Medicare Advantage reimbursement rate from 0.9 percent to 1.25 percent next year.

Medicare Advantage plans have a proven track record of improving health outcomes, reducing costs, and offering much-needed personal choice to seniors, said Buchanan. On behalf of the seniors in my congressional district, I applaud CMS for reversing their initial proposal and providing a much-needed increase in these critical rates.

"We must continue to protect this vital program and honor our commitment to America's seniors," Buchanan added, noting that the program was being hurt by President Barack Obamas federal health-care law.
