Update on Attack of Florida Family Policy Council's Website

John Stemberger, president and general counsel of the Florida Family Policy Council, sent an e-mail to supporters on Wednesday morning, informing them of the latest information he had about his groups website being attacked.

Stemberger reported early last week that ahacker, who called himself vKey H@x0r as well as Jhon Tairy, wrote a jumbled message with an expletive, saying the site was hacked due to the organizations stance against Islam. Stemberger wrote that his legal relationship with Rifqa Bary --the young woman who fled Ohio for Florida, after converting from Islam to Christianity, for fear that her life was in jeopardy from radical Muslims -- led to the site being attacked.

The hacker found an exploit (vulnerability) in the websites contact-us page and gained access to back end CMS of the site, wrote Stemberger. Then a virus was used to access to the entire server in Fort Lauderdale where the website is hosted. The technicians we are working with described the hacking as a fairly sophisticated operation that was done in a matter of only 15 minutes.

Stemberger added that all signs pointed to the hacker being Islamic.

There are several pieces of evidence which point to the fact that the hacker wanted us to know that his Great Islam motivated this criminal act, wrote Stemberger. The hacker left a large picture with Arabic letters which read Allah.

Stemberger added that another factor could have influenced the attack.

Four days before the hack, I was sued by a Muslim lawyer named Omar Tarazi for $10 million in an Ohio federal court, wrote Stemberger. A story in the Orlando Sentinel mentioned that I also led the Florida Family Policy Council which ran on the worldwide web.

Stemberger added that he reported the attack to the FBI and to officials in Orange County.

As he raises funds to construct a new website, Stemberger added that he is trying to keep the faith.

We are trusting in our sovereign God and the fact that what the enemy means for evil, God means for good, concluded Stemberger. When we fight the good fight, we can almost tangibly feel your prayers and support. We simply could not do our work without you.Thank you, thank you, thank you.
