United for Care: We're Getting Closer to Putting Medical Pot on 2016 Ballot

United For Care, the political action committee trying to pass medical marijuana in Florida, says it's getting closer and closer to getting RX pot back on the ballot in 2016.

In an email sent Thursday, United For Care said Florida had validated over 43,000 petitions of the 700,000 necessary to put the initiative up for a vote next year. The organization needs just 28,000 more for a Supreme Court review.

Last year, the ballot initiative failed when 58 percent of Florida voters voted to approve it. An amendment needs 60 percent voter approval to be added to the state's constitution.

Earlier in August, the pro-pot committee chaired by big-time lawyer John Morgan submitted over 100,000 petitions to be validated.
