Unhappy Camper Rips Into Flores Over Handling of Immigration Bill at Judiciary

Immigration-control proponents are still seething after getting the bum's rush at the Senate Judiciary Committee meeting on Monday.

George Fuller, a South Florida resident, e-mailed the following complaint to Chairwoman Anitere Flores, R-Miami, excerpted here:

"Actions have consequences. I traveled twice to address the Judiciary committee covering 1,400 miles and spoke for a grand total of four minutes opposing SB 2040. The fact there were 24 different bills to consider in yesterday's session guaranteed the end result of denial to participate by concerned citizens and organizations.

" ... One can draw conclusions for the sloppy handling of the process from inept to spiteful. ... You and others have managed to cobble together a terrible piece of legislation. ...

"It is time to recognize the superior bill is the House bill by Representative Snyder. We support it totally over the Senate version and implore you to do the same."

Flores was not available for comment, but one Senate insider told Sunshine State News that Flores' late amendment that added a controversial driver's license alternative to the E-Verify bill is not likely to survive in the bill's final version. SB 2040 now goes to Sen. Greg Evers' Criminal Justice Committee.
