Unemployment Rate Drops to 11.5 Percent
The Agency for Workforce Innovation announced on Friday that the unemployment rate dropped in Florida in February to 11.5 percent. The rate had stood at 11.9 percent in January. This is the biggest drop in the unemployment rate in the state since May 2007.
This decrease in Floridas unemployment rate, combined with continued job growth, is welcome news and provides additional evidence that our economy is getting back on track, said Cynthia Lorenzo, the direcor of the Agency for Workforce Innovation. We will continue our commitment to ensuring Floridas work force system meets the dynamic needs of our existing and future employers so that we can build on this momentum. With Governor Scotts leadership, Florida is positioned to be the national model for job creation.
