U.N. to Release Investigative Report on Syrian Chemical Weapons Attack
The United Nations is expected to be releasing an investigators' report addressing the chemical weapons attack on Aug. 31 in Damascus, Syria.
Two diplomats told CNN that the report will likely be released to the public after U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon briefs the U.N. Security Council Monday morning.
The report is expected to confirm whether or not a chemical weapons attack actually happened in the Syrian city. It is also expected to identify which chemical was used in the attack, which has come under significant scrutiny from world leaders who suspect that Syrian president Bashar al-Assad is the one who executed an attack of sarin gas on his own people. The report will not identify who carried out the attack, however, as it was not one of the inspectors' goals.
