Two Senate Polls: Crist Leads the Pack, Rubio Right Behind, Meek Trailing by 20 Percent

Polls, polls, everywhere polls for the most dramatic political race Florida has seen since George Smathers knocked Claude Pepper out of the U.S. Senate.

McLaughlin and Associates released a poll that shows independent Gov. Charlie Crist with 33 percent followed by Republican Marco Rubio at 29 percent and Democrtaic Congressman Kendrick Meek with 15 percent.

A poll that Rasmussen Reports took yesterday mirrors the McLaughlin one. Crist was at 38 percent with Rubio at 34 percent and Meek at 17 percent.

Crist is polling well with liberals and moderates, beating Meek with Democrats in the McLaughlin poll and winning more than 50 percent of self-identified liberals and moderates in the Rasmussen poll.

Crist is certainly enjoying a bounce from his decision to continue the campaign as an independent instead of a Republican and its coming at Meeks expense. The question remains how long it will last. Will Democrats continue to support Crist or return home to Meek? Meek faces the challenge of catching up to Crist adn Rubio while warding off Jeff Greene, the billionaire who just jumped into the Democratic primary.
