Two Renamed, Three Added to Lake-Sumter CC Board

Gov. Rick Scott renamed two members back to the District Board of Trustees, Lake-Sumter Community College and appointed three others.

According to a release from the governors office:

Raymond 'Scott' Blankenship, 53, of Clermont, has been the president of Blankenship Consulting since 2005 and a commercial realtor with Bryan Properties since 2007. Previously, he was the president of Natures Gallery from 2002 to 2005. Blankenship has been a member of the board of directors for the Education Foundation of Lake Sumter since 2005, the Metro Orlando Economic Development Commission and the Lake County Economic Development Advisory Council since 2008.In 2009, he was a member of the board of directors of Leadership Lake Alumni, and from 2003 to 2007, he served on the Lake County Zoning Board. Blankenship served in the United States Air Force from 1976 to 1981 and received an associate degree from Valencia Community College, a bachelors degree from the University of Central Florida and a Master of Business Administration from Northwestern University. He is reappointed for a term beginning Dec. 8, 2011, and ending May 31, 2014.

Richard P. Bowersox, 69, of Fruitland Park, is a real estate broker and has been president of the Roe-Rich Corp. since 2003. He is also a member of the board of directors for the Educational Foundation of Lake County. Previously, he was president of the Gator Power Equipment Corp. from 1991 to 2003 and a real estate broker with The Villages from 1984 to 1991. Before moving to Florida, he spent 18 years working with businesses in Michigan as vice president of sales and marketing for Dun-Hot Inc., president of Bowersox Snack Distributor Inc. and in real estate sales with the Walter Neller Co. He is reappointed for a term beginning Dec. 8, 2011, and ending May 31, 2015.

Kelly L. Flores, 44, of Oxford, has been a project manager at The Villages since 2002.She has been vice chair of the Village Community Development District No. 8 since 2010. Flores received bachelors and masters degrees from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. She succeeds Jon Simpson and is appointed for a term beginning Dec. 8, 2011, and ending May 31, 2015.

Emily A. Lee, 66, of Eustis, has been a community facilitator with Devereux Kids since 2009. Previously, she was the director of Lake County Childrens Services from 1998 to 2007. A former educator, school counselor and administrator, her community service includes the Lake County Childrens Foundation, the Florida Childrens Services Council and Lake County Early Learning Coalition. Lee received a bachelors degree from Southern University Baton Rouge and a masters degree from Mankato State University. She succeeds Joe Norman and is appointed for a term beginning Dec. 8, 2011, and ending May 31, 2014.

Kelly S. Rice, 43, of Webster, has been a real estate broker with Century 21 Prime Property Resources Inc. since 2000 and the president of Rice Cattle Co. since 1994. He has also been the president of Physical Therapy Services of Brooksville Inc. since 1992. A past president of the Sumter County Economic Development Council from 2007 to 2009, Rice previously served on the board of directors for Workforce Central Florida. He is the current president of the Sumter County Farm Bureau Board of Directors and served on the Withlacoochee River Basin Board from 2009 to 2011. Rice received a bachelors degree from the University of Florida. He succeeds Richard Childers and is appointed for a term beginning Dec. 8, 2011, and ending May 31, 2014.

The appointments are subject to confirmation by the Florida Senate.
