True Stories: Talking Heads Singer Sues Charlie Crist
Its a wild, wild life for rock stars but, when it comes to politicians using their songs without permission, this must be the place. Rockers are burning down the house to stop politicians from using their tunes. Ah, life in wartime.
This phenomenon does not happen once in a lifetime. In fact, it has happened twice in the same race.
Steve Miller was upset about Republican U.S Senate candidate Marco Rubio using his classic Take the Money and Run in an ad bashing Gov. Charlie Crist. Now former Talking Heads front man David Byrne is suing Crist for $1 million dollars for using Road to Nowhere in an ad against Rubio.
I wish the rock stars would stop making sense here. Intellectual property, even sax and violins, is important. Im curious to see what the politicians do to make nice to the rockers. Maybe they should offer them nothing but flowers.
Hey, if David Byrne can cover Whitney Houston tunes, I'm allowed to drown this piece in Talking Heads references.
