Trey Radel's Amendment to NDAA on Civil Liberties Passes

U.S. Rep. Trey Radel, R-Fla., offered an amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) to ensure the Defense Department makes an annual report to Congress on American citizens facing military detention. The House passed Radels amendment without opposition.

Radel took to the floor of Congress this week to slam recent presidential administrations handling of civil liberties.

At the hands of both parties, the White House has been operating behind closed doors, away from the eyes of the American public, unaccountable and not transparent, Radel said. This amendment shines light where there has been darkness, ensuring Americans rights to due process and a fair trial are safeguarded.
