Tom Rooney: Treat Servicemen Attacked by Terrorists Like Those Wounded or Killed in Combat

Florida Republican U.S. Rep. Tom Rooney offered a bill on Thursday that would treat armed service members and U.S. Department of Defense employees killed or wounded in attacks at Fort Hood, Texas, and Little Rock, Ark., in 2009, and in Germany earlier in March, with the same benefits as those killed or wounded in combat.

Terrorists targeted these sites in direct assaults on our men and women in uniform, said Rooney.These brave service members were killed or wounded in service to their country by enemies of the United States through acts of terror.

They and their families deserve the same treatment and benefits they would have received had their deaths or injuries been sustained on the field of battle, added Rooney.
