Tom Rooney: Intelligence Authorization Act Will Help National Security
From his perch as chairman of the U.S. House Intelligence Subcommittee on Emerging Threats, U.S. Rep. Tom Rooney, R-Fla., cheered as the House passed the Intelligence Authorization Act on Tuesday.
“I have always promised my constituents that I would work to keep our nation safe from the threat of global terrorism – a threat that is more prevalent today than arguably ever before” Rooney said. “The events in Paris remind us how important it is for our intelligence community to have the resources they need to keep Americans safe. National security and protecting the American people cannot be a partisan issue, which is why I was glad to see the House come together and pass this bill with such strong bipartisan support. I am hopeful that this legislation will quickly pass the Senate so we can get it to the president’s desk.”
Rooney showcased funds to continue the fight against Islamic terrorism, to keep captured terrorists imprisoned at Guantanamo Bay and to be used against cyber attacks.
