Tom Rooney Easily Wins New Western Congressional District

U.S. Rep. Tom Rooney, R-Punta Gorda, has, as expected, won his re-election to the new District 17 seat that was crafted mostly from the western end of his current district that is dominated by Palm Beach, Martin and St. Lucie counties.

We hear this every campaign, but I truly believe this is the most important election of my lifetime. Our country faces enormous challenges a weak economy, high unemployment, crushing national debt, and threats from around the world that President Obama and the Democratic Senate have been unable or unwilling to address. We have the opportunity to replace them, but first we need to make sure we have strong conservatives on the ballot in November. Floridians did that today.

Voters in Florida sent a clear message that theyre ready to send principled conservatives to Washington who will help the private sector rebuild our economy and put Americans back to work, cut spending and balance our budgets, and promote a strong national defense.

From the bottom of my heart, I want to thank the primary voters of the 17th district for their support, and I especially want to thank everyone who volunteered for this campaign for their hard work. Americas comeback began in Florida today now its time to finish the job in November!
