Tom Rooney Backs Everglades Restoration in Interior, Environment Appropriations Bill

U.S. Rep. Tom Rooney, R-Fla., a member of the U.S.  House Appropriations Committee, supported the  Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies Appropriations bill on Tuesday which contained around $150 million for Everglades restoration funding. The Appropriations Committee passed the bill on a 30-21 vote on Tuesday.

“Everglades Restoration helps keep Florida beautiful, is critical to our ranches, and helps ensure clean drinking water,” Rooney said. “Getting this funding upfront will help save money in the long run, because restoring wetlands north of Lake Okeechobee is the most cost-effective way to reduce flooding into the Lake and prevent damaging water releases into coastal estuaries.”
