Tim Tebow Back to Florida?
ESPN isn't hedging its bets. The sports network confidently says Peyton Manning is negotiating a contract with the Denver Broncos and the team will attempt to trade Tim Tebow. Period.
You mean the Broncs won't even try to keep their fan fav and eleventh-hour hero as backup QB if Manning isn't as healthy as he thinks he is? No -- not likely: 1) The team will be looking to dump some payroll; 2) Manning and Tebow require different styles of offense; 3) If Denver keeps Tebow, they encourage a general mourning and malaise in their thousands of Tebow fanatics who couldn't bear to see his helmetless crewcut idle, on the sidelines -- especially in the fourth quarter.
Las Vegas oddsmakers see Florida in Tebow's future.
Not a single Florida NFL team has a winning quarterback.
COULD TEBOW BE A JACKSONVILLE JAGUAR? Vegas says, yessiree, and gives him 1 in 4 odds. The Jaguars already selected their quarterback of the future in the 2011 NFL Draft when they traded up for Blaine Gabbert of Missouri. Then they added the competition and depth needed just days ago when Chad Henne, formerly of the Miami Dolphins, signed a two-year deal. If Shad Khan, the teams new owner -- who, by the way, is a huge Tebow fan -- wants to keep the Jags in Jacksonville, then fan interest has to be considered when constructing the roster. Gabbert and Henne are not sexy signings. A fan base like the Jags needs something to spur them to come to the stadium, and the addition of Tim Tebow would radically charge the Jacksonville community to come out and watch the team play.
COULD TEBOW BE A MIAMI DOLPHIN? Miami went after Manning and missed. On Sunday, free agent quarterback Alex Smith was in town to meet with the Dolphins brass. Vegas brains claim Miami isn't enthusiastic about Tebow. They give him only a 1 in 15 shot to play at Sun Life.
COULD TEBOW BE A TAMPA BAY BUCCANEER? Good fit for Tebow, even if he would have to back up Josh Freeman. This is because the Bucs have made some big signings this offseason and the NFC South isn't too well-known for dominant pass defenses. Tampa Bay also isn't too much farther from Gainesville than Jacksonville, so the Gator fans would swarm to The New Sombrero. But, by comparison to the Jaguars and Patriots (who also are rumored to be interested in him), the Bucs aren't nearly as attractive a landing spot for Tebow and they won't be as interested as Jacksonville or New England. Vegas gives his odds of being a Buc at 1 in 20.
