Three Defeated Congressional Candidates Might Run for Wilson's Senate Seat

Defeated politicians never die; they dont even fade away. With Sen. Frederica Wilson, D-Miami Gardens, defeating a large field in the Democratic primary and facing an independent candidate for the congressional seat currently held by U.S. Rep. Kendrick Meek, it looks like some politicians will get a second chance to move up the ladder. Former Rep. Phillip Brutus, Rep. James Bush, D-Miami, and Rep. Yolly Roberson, D-North Miami Beach, all of whom lost out to Wilson in the congressional primary, are all listed as candidates for Wilsons Senate seat in 2012 -- which is very likely to be open in early 2011. Also listed as a candidate is Rep. Oscar Braynon, D-Miami Gardens.

Of the three candidates who ran in the congressional primary and are looking at the Senate seat, Roberson did the best, placing in fourth with 10.27 percent of the vote. Her ex-husband Brutus took fifth with 8.44 percent. Bush came in eighth in the nine-candidate field with 5.45 percent.
