Thrasher Draws Primary Challenger

Looks like Sen. John Thrasher, chairman of the Republican Party of Florida, will have a challenger in the GOP primary. Here comes Dr. Charles Perniciaro--and he intends to make Thrashers support of SB 6, a measure to reform teacher performance pay, one of the chief issues of his campaign.

Perniciaro, a dermatologist, has already set up two websites for the campaign. Interesting poll on SB 6, the state teacher pay and tenure bill that was vetoed: Democrats support the veto 54-29%, notes one of Perniciaros websites. But Republicans wanted the veto just about as much at 51-32%.

Thrasher intends to run for another term and is already bringing in a big name to help kick off his re-election bid--former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney who is increasingly looking to make another bid at the White House.
