Thrasher Blasts Greer's Machinations, Defends McCollum's Handling of Case

Republican Party of Florida Chairman John Thrasher had this to say following the release of discovery documents related to the criminal investigation of Jim Greer:

When it came to light in March during the course of the annual RPOF audit that illegal activity may have taken place during the tenure of the former chairman, immediate action was taken and Bill McCollum acted decisively and appropriately in turning the information over to the statewide prosecutor.

"Jim Greer has been arrested and indicted on six felony counts after a meticulous and professional investigation done by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.

For anyone to question whether the attorney general failed to act promptly or suggest that he tried to obstruct the investigation when given this information is disingenuous and shows a complete detachment from the facts.

The Republican Party of Florida was the victim in this matter, and we will continue to fully cooperate until this investigation and prosecution is concluded.
