Thad McCotter Goes on the Attack Against Obama and Mitt Romney
U.S. Rep. Thad McCotter of Michigan, who entered the race for the Republican presidential nomination earlier in the month, took off the gloves on Thursday and tore into both President Barack Obama and former Gov. Mitt Romney of Massachusetts, the current favorite for the GOP nod.
Every day that Barack Obama talks about reducing the deficit were reminded of his leadership deficit -- failing economic policies, failing our country's struggling families, and failing to stop big government from stifling jobs and economic opportunities for suffering Americans, insisted McCotter on Thursday. Job creation starts when Barack Obama is fired.
McCotter added that he would not support any debt ceiling agreement that includes increased taxes in any form and attacked Democrats and Republicans who backed TARP and federal bailouts, linking Obama and Romney on the matter.
We cant afford four more years of an Obama-Romney economy, McCotter maintained.
With his father having served as governor of Michigan and having won the primary there in 2008, Romney starts out as the favorite again in the Great Lake State. But McCotter could complicate things for Romney -- and the congressman is showing no reluctance in launching attacks against the front-runner. Unlike, say, Tim Pawlenty, McCotter seems committed to attacking Romney and this could give the front-runner some major headaches during debates.
