Tea Partiers to Rally Outside Sen. Nelson's Orlando Office Monday Afternoon
Tea party groups will rally in front of Sen. Bill Nelson's Orlando office Monday afternoon in support of Gov. Rick Scott's budget.
Rick Scott and other courageous governors, like Chris Christie of New Jersey and Scott Walker of Wisconsin, get it," said Ron McCoy of the West Orlando Tea Party. And they need to know that we stand with them and support them in their work to get us out of this mess.
Contrasting the governors' fiscal discipline with the profligate spending in Washington, D.C., the tea groups criticized both Democrats and Republicans for an addiction to "easy money."
In addition to calling out Nelson, the tea partiers assailed Republican Rep. John Mica, who continues to promote costly high-speed rail projects via failed stimulus dollars.
A statement released by the tea groups in advance of their "Governors Saving America" rally said:
"In return for their strong and disciplined fiscal intervention and leadership in this battle for our financial survival, and that of our children and grandchildren, Governor Scott and his counterparts have been unmercifully attacked and maligned by both Democrats and Republicans as they shill for their pet special interest groups, to the financial detriment of the taxpaying constituents that elected them."
The rally will start at 5:30 p.m. at Nelson's office at Landmark Two, 225 E. Robinson St., Orlando.
